On Saturday April 16, 2016, the music world will celebrate International Record Store Day and The Bob Marley Group of Companies will join in the celebrations at Tuff Gong International and at Fontana Pharmacy, Barbican.

Tuff Gong International will stage its annual International Record Store Day sale on all records distributed by the label. Known all over the world for its reggae music catalog, Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong International has been the largest entertainment distributor in the Caribbean for more than two decades. Warner Music, Universal Music Group, and Disney Music Group are all sold in the region through an exclusive agreement with the Jamaica-based Entertainment Company.

On Saturday April 16, 2016, from 11am to 3pm at 220 Marcus Garvey Drive Kingston 11 and Fontana Pharmacy Barbican, Tuff Gong International will offer a special one-day sale, on CD’s, 45’s and LP’s from Bob Marley, Bob Marley and Wailers, The Melody Makers and several artistes whose music is distributed by Tuff Gong International.

Fontana Pharmacy will offer patrons a special in store experience, as one of the official distributors of music for Tuff Gong International and Bob Marley merchandise, in Jamaica. Customers, who purchase records over JMD Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars, can use their receipts to access a tour of Tuff Gong International.

Brand Manager for the Bob Marley Group Of Companies, Ms. Debbie Bissoon, noted “Record Store day is for all lovers of music, players of music and collectors of music who appreciate the history of the making of the music and the evolution thereof. About International Record Store Day

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.

Next generation Marley family member and musician, Skip Marley has been included in the GAP clothing company’s new online social media promotion campaign promoting their ‘1969 DENIM’ clothes with people that “live the spirit” of those known for the style they wear. “The Gap asked me what makes me feel most alive,” Skip explains about the video ad while shooting in the sunshine of California. “Music Is Life” cited the young artist and that his grandfather Bob Marley and his uncles have preferred to be outfitted in denim spanning the generations. Skip has had a impressive start to 2016 with stellar performances in Jamaica at the One Love Music Festiva and Bob Marley 71st Earthday Celebration, the GAP’s 1969 denim campaign and now he is prepping to shoot a video for his updated version of his grandfather’s classic “Three Little Birds” used in Sandals’ “No Worry” global ad campaign.

About Skip Marley: Skip Marley-Minto was exposed to the power of music from birth. The Kingston-born, Miami-raised singer/songwriter is both the grand-nephew of Marcia Griffiths and grandson of reggae icons Bob and Rita Marley. In addition to that, his mother Cedella Marley is one fourth of the GRAMMY award-winning group, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers. Tuff Gong International, under the direction of CEO, Cedella Marley, will stage the first annual One Love Music Festival on February 4 – 5, 2016, at Rose Hall Great House Lawns and Aqueduct, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The festival is a fundraising event to celebrate Bob Marley’s life and legacy by supporting life changing projects in education, the environment and poverty relief through the Bob Marley Foundation in partnership with the Rose Town Foundation and Sandals Foundation.  It will comprise of a gala reception and a live concert featuring international acts Akon, Kymani Marley, Skip Marley and a host of local performers.

“Dad always instilled that, with hard work, we can accomplish anything,” shares Cedella Marley.  “The One Love Music Festival is a way to continue to spread his message and help empower people to achieve great things.  She goes on to say, “We are bringing together a great fusion of contemporary and seasoned musical talents to provide an explosion of entertainment and enjoyment for persons of all age groups, while sharing a message of positivity and empowerment.”

On February 4, the star studded gala reception takes place on the lawns of Rose Hall Great House.  VIP patrons as well as local donors and partners will have the opportunity to mingle with a host of international celebrities and enjoy the intimacy of unplugged and up-close live performances.  Celebrity chefs from the island’s top hotels will have stations of gourmet dishes to tantalize the taste buds.

On February 5, the One Love Concert will be at the Rose Hall Aqueduct.  It will star living legends and music legends in the making, from all genres, in never before seen and unexpected combinations.  The third generation of Marley music mavens is also set to make their Jamaican stage debut at the concert.

“Rose Hall is pleased to celebrate the life of Bob Marley not just with amazing music which represents what he stood for but with the meaningful work our foundations will do with funds raised through these events. This passion for the Jamaican people is truly the heart of Rose Hall,” says Michael Rollins, President of Rollins Jamaica.

“My father believed that the greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively,” reflects Cedella.  “The Bob Marley Foundation has partnered with Rose Town Foundation and Sandals Foundation, entities that share this vision, in order to present the One Love Music Festival and we are very excited about the first staging,” ended Marley.
