Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds Continues to Inspire 35 Years Later

More than 35 years after making its debut on Bob Marley’s album, Exodus, the classic tune “Three Little Birds” continues to break new media ground with recent variations for theatre, books, television, and more.  The song, already an enduring staple in reggae music, is quickly earning a place in pop culture with successful cover version by artists ranging from Jason Mraz to Gilberto Gil.

Last winter, Cedella Marley used the song as inspiration for her second best-selling children’s book, “Every Little Thing.” This past spring Maryland’s Adventure Theatre launched a musical based on the book with great critical and commercial success. This week it was announced in the Washington Post that the play, produced and directed by Michael Bobbitt, has earned a spot at New York’s Victory Theatre for the upcoming 2013-2014 season.
